FREDERICK, Md. - Charles Madison Fox, age 87, of Frederick, passed away May 27, 2010.

Born in 1923 in Sistersville, W.Va., he was the son of Mary Louise Williams Fox and Jesse James Fox.

He is survived by three sons, Britt Madison Fox and wife, Cathy, of Berlin, Md., Curt Francis Fox and wife, Sonya, of Frederick, and Dana James Fox and wife, Rosalie, of Jeanette, Pa. He was the dear grandfather of three grandsons, David, Todd and Gregory; three granddaughters, Lisa, Cristen and Jessica; and seven great-grandchildren, Simon Bedorin, Maxime Arbareri, Emma and Lilah North, Cecelia and Lydia Jones, and Logan Madison Fox; and an outstanding companion, Alma R. Moore, of Frederick.

He was preceded in death by wife Ruth Ann Sutton Fox, united in marriage for 58 years; brothers, Willard Victor and Carl Edwin; and sisters, Elsie Mae Cecil and Betty Eileen Shreve.

He was an employee of Fairchild Space and Electronics for 43 years before retiring in 1982. He served in the Air Force during World War II.


He was an active member of the VFW, American Legion, Elks and the Moose. An avid golfer, he was a member of the VFW, and Eagle Head and West Winds country clubs. He also enjoyed square dancing as a member of the Promenaders, Hagerstown, Md., and ballroom dancing in Thurmont and Woodsboro, Md. He was an ardent metal detector and enjoyed traveling.

He was also a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hagerstown and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Frederick.

He donated his remains to science. A memorial service will be Monday, June 7, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1415 W. 7th St., Frederick, MD 21702.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Ruth Ann Fox Endowment Fund.
