Farm and Home Safety Day set for June 18 in Chambersburg

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The 2010 Farm and Home Safety Day will be Friday, June 18, at the Chambersburg Rod & Gun Club. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and events conclude at 2:30 p.m.

Farm and Home Safety Day is a fun and effective hands-on event that teaches local youths basic safety rules in many areas of our daily lives.

This year, youths will learn information dealing with animals, hunting, ticks, camping, corn picking, fire, pesticides and lawn equipment safety.

In addition, participants will attend sessions dealing with basic first aid, noise and disability awareness.

The event is sponsored by Penn State Cooperative Extension, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, Pennsylvania Department of Health, New Franklin Ruritan, Franklin County Society of Farm Women, Franklin County Farm Bureau, Chambersburg Rod & Gun Club and the Progressive Agriculture Foundation National Sponsors.

Cost for the event is $5 per child and includes lunch, two snacks, accident insurance and safety materials/goody bag.
