The agents of Keller Williams Premier Realty selected Hagerstown's Community Garden as its project for their 2010 RED (Renew, Energize and Donate) project.
"Red Day is a Keller Williams Realty service initiative dedicated to improving our local communities," said Heather Barnhart, realtor for Keller Williams Premier Realty. "Agents from Keller Williams in the United States and Canada donated their time on May 13, 2010, to renewing and energizing aspects of their local communities. This is one way we give back to the community."
"Dig In, Hagerstown!" is a community gardening program.
The program goals are to provide the infrastructure for a cooperative food gardening program for city residents, to educate city residents on the fiscal, environmental and health benefits of cooperative food gardening, and to promote community and neighborhood cohesiveness through the use of a shared work space.
The agents donated their time May 13 to plant seedlings in the Community Garden, and they held yard sales May 1 and 7 at their office at 1185 Mount Aetna Road in which the proceeds of $500 went to City of Hagerstown for items for the garden.
