Frances Virginia Sharer, 80, of 547 W. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Md., died Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Washington County Hospital.

Born July 15, 1929, in Hagerstown, Md., she was the daughter of the late James N. and Nellie B. Welty Weagley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow W. Sharer Sr., in 1992.

Frances loved going to bingo, yard sales and the casinos. Most important to her was her family. She loved her children and grandchildren and she was always there for them. Christmas was her favorite holiday. Her family always came home to her house.

Frances is survived by two daughters, Dorothy V. Myers and husband, Harold and Carol Ann Miller and husband, Larry, all of Hagerstown; one son, Woodrow W. Sharer Jr. of Hagerstown; two sisters, Eleanor Jean Kapp of Lafayette, Calif., and Shirley Morrell of Sharpsburg, Md.; one brother, Paul Weagley of Orlando, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Dennis Lee Nichols and wife, Kim, of Waynesboro, Pa., Jamie Nichols of Boonsboro, Nichole Kelley of Boonsboro, David Woodrow Miller and wife, Carrie, of Naples, Fla., Jason Carroll Miller and wife, Abby, of Fayetteville, N.C., Lauri Renee Miller and husband, Jamie Wolfe, of Martinsburg, W.Va., Amy Marie Sharer, Adam Woodrow Sharer and April Renee Sharer, all of Hagerstown, and eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Catherine Barnhart; three brothers, Norman Elmo Weagley, James Newton Weagley Jr. and Donald Weagley.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.
