Betty Jean "Jeannie" Walling, 76, of 1075 Mount Aetna Road, Hagerstown, Md., died Sunday, May 30, 2010, at her home.

Born June 17, 1933, in Charleston, S.C., she was the daughter of the late John H. and Thelma E. Burn Lightsey.

She was employed as an associate with J.C. Penney Inc.

She was a former member of First Christian Church.

Jeannie was an avid bingo player.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Harry J. Walling, on Jan. 14, 2000.

She is survived by one daughter, Darlene Beverlin of Lorado, Mo.; two sons, Buddy Glines of Boonsboro, Md., and Michael Glines of Meggett, S.C.; one sister, Patsy Miller of Jackson, S.C.; two brothers, John Lightsey of Fla., and Frank Lightsey of Forest City, N.C.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers; one great-grandson.


Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Md. Chaplain Michael Seger will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m.
