Hagerstown City Council tours city facilities

June 01, 2010

The current Hagerstown City Council started its second year together Tuesday much as it did the first, by touring city facilities.

City Administrator Bruce Zimmerman scheduled the tour in lieu of a work session, he said.

Tuesday's tour started at the Hagerstown Light Department and Central Maintenance Garage on Baltimore Street and continued to the wastewater collection and treatment plant off Frederick Street.

On June 2, 2009, the new council toured the city water plant and the west end water tank, Zimmerman said.

Members of the Utilities Department staff led Tuesday's tour.

Highlights included the city's new sewer headworks, a streamlined maintenance garage and the Enhanced Nutrient Removal system being built at the wastewater facility.

Zimmerman said the council will resume its regular work sessions for the month starting June 8.
