WILLIAMSPORT - Donald Lee "Joe" Whipp, 75, of 19 W. Church St., Williamsport, died Friday, May 28, 2010, at Reeders Memorial Home, Boonsboro, Md.

Joe was born Aug. 5, 1934, in Williamsport to the late Clarence Wesley and Nona Marie Moats Whipp.

He retired from Redland Brick (Cushwa Plant) in Williamsport, in 1997.

He attended Williamsport schools.

He was of the Protestant faith.

Memberships include Conococheague Tribe 84 The Improved Order of Red Men of Williamsport and the Potomac Post 202 American Legion of Williamsport.

Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Gladys E. Sharon Obitts-Whipp of Williamsport; daughter, Donna L. Pinera of Cape Coral, Fla.; stepsons, Kevin L. Obitts of Falling Waters, W.Va., Dave D. Obitts of Williamsport and Roger W. Obitts of Pinesburg, Md.; sisters, Ruth M. Shank of Keedysville, Md. and Mary K. Gross of Falling Waters; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; two stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.


Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert H. "Sonny" Whipp and Kenneth W. Whipp.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Williamsport, with the Rev. Robert V. Robinson officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, which will open at 1 p.m. Tuesday for the convenience of family and friends.
