Leadership Washington County

Leadership Washington County will host "A Celebration of Leadership" on Friday, June 25, from noon to 2 p.m. at Leiters' Downtown.

The event will be held in conjunction with the graduation of Class XXIII of Leadership Washington County.

Freeman Hrabowski, president of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, will be keynote speaker and present diplomas to the graduates.

Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village

BOONSBORO - Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village recently received high scores in the 2009 state survey of residents' families.

The survey included questions covering five aspects of residents' life and care - staff and administration, care provided, food and meals, autonomy and resident rights, and physical aspects of the home.


Of Fahrney-Keedy's responding parties in 2009, 93 percent said they would recommend the nursing home to others. This compared with a 90 percent average statewide.

For overall care received, Fahrney-Keedy respondents rated the home at nine on a 10-point scale. Statewide in this category, homes received an average rating of 8.3 out of 10.

Department of Social Services

The Washington County Department of Social Services recently received the Payment Accuracy Award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture at the Mid-Atlantic Payment Accuracy Conference in Lancaster, Pa.

The department was recognized for achieving 97.65 percent payment accuracy for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program during federal fiscal year 2009.

The award was presented to Rosalind Martin, the department's assistant director for family investment.

Mercedes-Benz of Hagerstown

Mercedes-Benz of Hagerstown recently received the Mercedes-Benz Best of the Best Dealer Recognition Award from Mercedes-Benz USA.

The award is presented to top-performing Mercedes-Benz dealerships for demonstrating superior performance in various areas of their business, including customer satisfaction, new vehicle sales, certified pre-owned sales, leadership and management, parts operations and market penetration.
