Hospital announces revamped care unit

May 29, 2010

RANSON, W.Va. -- Jefferson Memorial Hospital's intensive care unit will open Tuesday in a new section of the building after officials spent about $150,000 on renovation work, according to West Virginia University Hospitals-East spokesperson Teresa E. McCabe.

The new five-bed unit was renamed the Special Care Unit in conjunction with the move to what was vacant second-floor space, McCabe said in a news release.

The new unit is twice the size of the former one, which had six beds, McCabe said.

"The care provided and staffing ratios will remain the same as in the old ICU," McCabe said.
