The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will host the U.S. Navy Country Current as part of its annual Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series, Wednesday, June 9, at 6 p.m., in HCC's Alumni Amphitheater.
The Country Current is a seven-member country-bluegrass ensemble originally formed in 1973. The group is under the direction of banjo instrumentalist Chief Musician Keith M. Arneson. In support of Navy recruiting, the group tours the United States each year, and has performed at many venues alongside a number of country artists, including Charlie Daniels, Vince Gill, David Ball and Boots Randolph. The group also features an acoustic bluegrass quintet that is often featured at many festivals across the country.
The concert is free and open to the public. This year's Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series is sponsored by the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Joint Veterans Council and AMVETS Department Service Foundation Inc.
