MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Denny Hugh Godby, 67, of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at his home.

Born May 4, 1943, he was the son of the late George Oliver and Mary Dallas Buckland Godby.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances Ramsey Godby, in 2000.

He was a 1962 graduate of Nuttall High School, Lookout, W.Va.

He was employed with Save-A-Lot in Williamsport, Md., until retiring in 2007.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during Vietnam.

He attended The Living Room in Martinsburg, W.Va.

He was a member of the Teamsters Local 992, Hagerstown, Md., and the National Wild Turkey Federation.

Survivors include son, Kenny Wood and his wife, Nancy M., of Smithsburg, Md.; daughter, Donna Spangler and her husband, Kim, of Hollywood, Fla.; daughter, Gina Trumpower of Glengary, W.Va.; son, Rob Wood and his wife, Nancy E., of Hagerstown, Md.; sister, Christine Vance of Red House, W.Va.; sister, Judy Gunther of Rainelle, W.Va.; brother, Harold Godby of Stuarts Draft, Va.; brother, Lee Godby of Poke City, Fla.; brother, Gene Godby of Muskogee, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many close friends.


He was predeceased by his son, Travis Oliver Godby, in 2001.

A memorial service will be held at Osborne Funeral Home, 425 S. Conococheague St., Williamsport, Md., on Monday, May 31, 2010, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Gary May officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service Monday, from 10 to 11 a.m. The funeral home will be open after 9 a.m. Monday for the convenience of family and friends. Interment will be in Smithsburg Cemetery, Smithsburg, Md.
