SBDC recognizes 30 area businesses

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- Thirty area businesses, including two in operation for more than 100 years, were recognized Thursday by Small Business Development Center of the Eastern Panhandle, according to a news release by the agency.

At a reception on Thursday, the SBDC recognized the following businesses:

o Lee Badger of Anvil Works, for creating a stone top table that was selected for the West Virginia Juried Exhibition

o Charlie Linton of Boltz's Hardware, for providing "great" customer service and a variety of products over the years

o Karen Sumner of Goin' Postal, for providing services and products in the community

o Tony Cooper of TLC Photography, for 20 years of providing photographic services

o Roy Jones & Carter Craft of HMS Technologies for national recognition as a service-related disabled veteran-owned business

o Jonathan Moore of Rowdy Orbit, for producing a website that promotes minority programming

Mike Grady of Power Sonix was recognized as the 2010 West Virginia Small Business Administration Small Business Exporter of the Year.


The SBDC promotes economic development through a program of free business assistance including business coaching, start-up business workshops, and linking businesses with other local, state and federal resources as they explore federal procurement, exporting, etc.

o Gina and Bob Miller, Miller's Electric, 52 years

o Eric Roman, Roman's Auto Body, 50 years

o PJ Orsini, Orsini's Appliance Sales & Service, 49 years

o Frederick Gantt, Gantt's Excavating & Contracting, 39 years

o John Jeans, Carpet World, 36 years

o Roger Frye, Roger's Tire & Auto Service, 36 years
