Edgar Cayce Foundation retreat

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - The nonprofit Edgar Cayce Foundation is sponsoring the 35th annual Mid-Atlantic A.R.E. Retreat in Shepherdstown at Shepherd University. Check-in from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 11. The event concludes noon Sunday, June 13.

This year's retreat, The Light of the New Millennium: Awakening to Your Higher Self, picks up where last year's retreat, 2012 and Other Prophesies for Our Time, left off. Four presentations comprise the weekend. This Wacky New Millennium, The Light of Consciousness, Awakening to Your Higher Self and Surfing the Waves of Change.

Judith Pennington lead the retreat.

Out-of-town participants may arrange for lodging at Shepherd University or in-town facilities. Meals will be available from Friday evening through Sunday morning.

SHARE provides food

SHARE Food network provides food to everyone. For $20 and two hours of volunteer service each month, participants receive food that would cost approximately $45 at the grocery store.

To register, call 301-864-3115 to find a local host site. Contact the representative at the local host site and order one or more SHARE packages. Pay $20 for each package with cash, money order, EBT card, MasterCard or Visa. Give at least two hours each month to your community for each package purchased. Volunteer training offered

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Good Shepherd Caregivers will hold volunteer training from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at Zion Episcopal Church Parish House in Charles Town.

Caregivers provide free, nonmedical care to Jefferson County residents who are older or have disabilities. These services are performed by volunteers of all ages throughout the community.
