Photography workshops

Monika Wertman will offer three photography workshops this summer. Still life, 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, June 1 to June 15; portraiture, 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, June 22 to July 6; and landscape, 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, July 13 to July 27. Participants must have access to a digital SLR camera with manual controls. Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery, 4 W. Franklin St., Hagerstown. $100 per workshop, to be paid in full at registration. A 10-percent multi-workshop discount is available if all three workshops are signed up at the same time. Washington County Museum of Fine Arts is offering the following classes:

o Handmade paper for ages 8 and older, 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, through Friday, June 4. Instructor is Jane Pingleton-Evans.

o Studio: Oil for ages 13 and older, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, June 2, through June 30. Instructor is Ski Holm.

o Art 4 Toddlers: Bugs and Butterflies for ages 2 and 3 with an adult, 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, through Friday, June 4. Instructor is Leia Wood.

Summer art classes

Art classes for ages 5 through 8 include screen printing, paper mache, clay figures (sculptures), making cartoons, group murals and storybook making. Costs $20 per person per day, includes lunch and materials. Art classes for adult beginnings include watercolor painting, drawing and screen printing. $15 per person, per session. Michael Tyson will offer Music! Summer Institute for the Arts will offer three programs:

o SIFTA Academy for grades kindergarten through five, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, June 14, through Friday, June 18, at Rockland Woods Elementary School. $150.

o SIFTA Apprenticeship for ages 11 to 18, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 10, and Friday, June 11; Monday, June 14, through Friday, June 18, at Rockland Woods Elementary School. $200.

o SIFTA's Art in the Woods for ages 7 to 18, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, June 21, through Friday, June 25, at Doub's Woods Park - Arts Pavilion. $150.
