Tristate employees donate to REACH

Employees at the local Tristate Electric branch on Insurance Way recently donated $550 to the REACH Cold Weather Shelter in memory to Clarence Koontz, who died in April.

Funds were raised by holding a blue jeans fundraiser. By making a small donation, employees were allowed to wear blue jeans on Fridays this month.

REACH is a faith-based, nonprofit organization that assists the needy in the community.

Jodie Stock, REACH executive director, said REACH is always looking for business partners in the community.

If you or your business would be interested in assisting REACH, call Stock at 301-733-2371.

Community yard sale

St. Mark's Lutheran Church, at the corner of Washington Street and Washington Avenue, will host a yard and bake sale Saturday, June 5, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The sale will be in the parking lot next to Girls Inc. Spaces to rent cost $10 or $15 for two spaces.

All proceeds will fund community outreach programs. One program that is a familiar sight in the West End is the block party in August.
