Silva, Shoemaker win Lions Club sholarships



The Lions Club of Halfway recently presented scholarships to Alexandra Silva from South Hagerstown High School and Emily Shoemaker from Williamsport High. Both scholarship winners spoke of their accomplishments as well as their future plans. The Lions also heard comments from Miss Washington County Mary King, who spoke at the meeting.

Halfway Park Days



Halfway Park Days will be held at Martin L. "Marty" Snook Memorial Park in Halfway on Saturday and Sunday.

Live entertainment is planned with performances from the jazz bands of Williamsport and South Hagerstown high schools. Magic shows are also scheduled with performances from Michael T on Saturday and Sunday. Several food vendors will be on hand, too, along with the Lions Club of Halfway and its famous barbecue chicken platters.

Yard sale planned



Lakeside Park Mobile Home Community near Valley Mall will hold its community yard sale Saturday, June 5, starting at 7 a.m.

Reminder



Parents of Washington County students, be sure to note the following: Schools will be closed Monday in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. Classes will resume Tuesday, June 1.

Sports card show



A sports card and memorabilia show will be held at Valley Mall from Friday, June 4, through Sunday, June 6. Several merchants and sports-themed vendors will be set up in the mall that weekend.

Electric vehicle event



The Electric Vehicle Association of Washington, D.C., will host its annual Power of D.C. Electric Vehicle Autocross on Saturday, June 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Valley Mall parking lot.

Electric vehicle enthusiasts will be maneuvering their cars through a series of traffic cones competing for the best times.
