Summer fun at a glance: town festivals

Main Street, City Center, Public Square -- whatever you call it, there are plenty of opportunities to be proud of where you live. Here is a list of a few town festivals coming up in the Tri-State region this summer.

Waynesboro Summer Jubilee | July 3

Most activities will be held across the street from Waynesboro Hospital, whose address is 501 E. Main St., Waynesboro, Pa. Firecracker five-kilometer run, 8:30 a.m.; parade down Main Street, 10:30 a.m., with activities scheduled after the parade including children's games, a pie-eating contest, money machine, food, pony rides, petting zoo and bands. ChambersFest | July 10-24

At various locations throughout Chambersburg, Pa. Highlights: Celebrate the Arts at Old Market Day on Saturday, July 17, with more than 200 craft vendors in downtown Chambersburg, Pa.; Scoop-a-Palooza fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24, at Chambersburg Area Middle School, 1151 E. Smithsburg Pride Days | July 17-18

Veterans Park, accessible off West Water Street, Smithsburg. There will be craft and food vendors in Veterans Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 17, and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 18; Parade is 11 a.m. Saturday through the town of Smithsburg. For information, go to


Williamsport Days | Aug. 26-29

Salute to senior citizens at Byron Park 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Street dance 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27. On Saturday and Sunday: Food, craft vendors, music and other events at Byron Memorial Park. Exhibits, films and tours at Cushwa Basin from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds to benefit Williamsport charities. Call 301-223-7711.
