May 26, 2010

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. -- A house on River Road in Morgan County was destroyed by fire Tuesday, a dispatcher said Wednesday.

The home was in the 5100 block of River Road, according to a Morgan County 911 dispatcher.

No one was injured in the fire, which started at about 3:30 p.m., the dispatcher said.

The home belonged to local residents Jim and Cindy Smalley.

A charitable fund has been set up to help the family by the West Virginia University Morgan County Extension office members, according to an e-mail from Extension Agent Denis Scott. Cindy Smalley has been the 4-H program assistant at the office for 10 years, Scott said.

Checks can be made out to the Smalley Family Fire Fund, c/o Becky Stotler, CNB Bank, P.O. Box 130, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411.
