BlueClaws put away sloppy Suns early

May 26, 2010

LAKEWOOD, N.J. -- The Lakewood BlueClaws jumped on the Hagerstown Suns for nine runs in the first four innings on the way to a 9-2 victory in South Atlantic League action Tuesday night.

Lakewood (25-21) knocked Suns starter Paul Applebee out of the game before the end of the third inning. Of the seven runs Applebee gave up, only three were earned thanks to two of Hagerstown's four errors.

The Suns (26-20) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Francisco Soriano reached on a two-base error and came around on two groundouts.

But it got ugly in a hurry for Hagerstown. Jonathan Singleton drove in a run with a single in the bottom of the first to tie the game at 1, before the BlueClaws made it 5-1 with a four-run second. Adam Buschini's bases-loaded double drove in three.

Hagerstown cut the lead to 9-2 in the sixth on Soriano's RBI single.
