It's unbelievable that Memorial Day weekend is here already. Where does the time go?

Talented students

It is no secret that our little community has many talented young people. Last Wednesday, all students in the county who have maintained a 3.7 or better grade-point average were recognized at the Celebration of Excellence. Boonsboro High School was represented by 24 scholars.

Band concert

Tonight is the final band concert of the school year. The concert is scheduled to begin at 7. Admission is $5.

Library event

Boonsboro Free Library will hold its Summer Reading Club kickoff party Wednesday, June 2, at 3:30 p.m. The event will have a pirate theme.

Fundraiser dinner

Benevola United Methodist Church, at 19925 Benevola Church Road in Boonsboro, will host a Volunteer in Mission fundraising dinner Saturday, June 12, from 3 to 7 p.m.


The buffet-style menu will include chicken potpie, ham, corn, beans, salads, rolls, cakes and drinks.

Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for those ages 3 to 10.

Proceeds will support a mission trip to Nicaragua in July.

Soccer camp

The Boonsboro Football Club will host a summer soccer camp in July. The camp is a half-day camp (mornings or afternoons) and will run throughout July at Boonsboro Middle School. The program is run by accredited coaches. It is open to those ages U4 to U14. The camp costs $55 for the week.

Summer festival

Fahrney-Keedy Home & Village on Md. 66 in Boonsboro is planning for its sixth annual summer festival Saturday, Aug. 7.

The event will include children's games, water park, petting zoo, classic car cruise-in, arts and crafts vendors, magician, face painting, barrel train rides and a bake sale. Spaces are available to rent for $25.
