HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. -- A Berkeley County, W.Va., woman has been charged with driving under the influence in connection with a two-vehicle crash that killed her passenger on Friday, according to a Berkeley County Sheriff's Department press release.

Angel Clark, 36, of Martinsburg, W.Va., was pronounced dead at City Hospital in Martinsburg, where she was taken after a crash on W.Va. 9, deputies said.

Clark was the only passenger in a Toyota Corolla driven by Jennifer Shibley, who lives in Berkeley County's Bedington area, deputies said.

A 1997 Ford Explorer was the other vehicle in the crash, but none of its three occupants was injured, deputies said.

Shibley was taken to Eastern Regional Jail near Martinsburg.

A Berkeley County dispatcher said the crash happened about 7:45 p.m. near the Hedgesville post office.

Police said Shibley told a sheriff's deputy, who smelled alcohol on her breath, that she had used marijuana earlier in the day.

Hedgesville Volunteer Fire Co. members said they saw Shibley go into the woods, near the crash scene, and possibly leave items there, deputies said.

Fire company members and a sheriff's deputy found multiple plastic bags and marijuana in the woods where Shibley was seen, deputies said.
