ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Ian Archer Navarro (Mendez), 44, died of metastatic cancer on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, in St. Louis, Mo.

Ian had recently moved to St. Louis, Mo., with his partner, Paul Huber. They previously resided in Pittsburgh, Pa., Hollywood, Fla., and Tulsa, Okla., for several years, where Ian managed their real estate holdings and a small art gallery.

Ian was a 1983 graduate of Boonsboro High School in Boonsboro, Md., and was a well-known and much-loved entrepreneur in the Frederick, Md., area. He worked for many years at Flights of Fancy in Frederick, where he designed their window displays and assisted in management matters. Ian was known to many of his friends and his clients as an excellent cook and artist, and for some years he ran an event coordinating business in the area.

He is survived by his partner, Paul Huber of St. Louis, Mo.; his parents, Antonio J. (Tony) and Jonna Mendez; his sister, Amanda Mendez (Knoxville, Md.); and his brothers, Antonio T. (Toby) Mendez (Frederick, Md.) and Jesse Mendez (Knoxville, Md.). His nephew, Phillip McField; his niece, Kace McField (Knoxville, Md.); and Toby's significant other, Cathy Seibert (Frederick, Md.), also survive him.


Ian was predeceased by his mother, Karen Smith Mendez, in 1986.

Ian will be missed by his family and the multitude of friends who surrounded him throughout his life.

A memorial service will be held in St. Louis, with details to be announced.
