FROSTBURG, Md. -- Breanne Lohman and Haley Payne each homered for Boonsboro in a 9-2 Maryland Class 1A West quarterfinal loss to third-seeded Mountain Ridge on Wednesday.

Kayla Payne had two hits for the Warriors, who finished the season 10-10.

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. -- Kelsey White pitched a two-hitter with nine strikeouts and had two RBIs to lead the Indians past the Spartans in the Sideling Hill League.

Ashley Sigel and Kim Russell had two hits each for Southern Fulton (6-12).

Lisa DeShong had two of the three hits and scored both runs for McConnellsburg (2-14). Alexus Mellott and Courtney DeShong drove in the runs.

Greencastle 2, Central Dauphin 0

NEWVILLE, Pa. -- The Blue Devils (17-4) shut out Central Dauphin in the semifinals of the Mid-Penn Tournament.

Greencastle will face Lower Dauphin this evening at 6 at Heishman Field for the title.

Rams' Minnich makes all-region

MANSFIELD, Pa. -- Shepherd University sophomore first baseman Nathan Minnich, a Waynesboro graduate, was named to 2010 ABCA/Rawlings Atlantic All-Region second team.

Minnich earned All-Region accolades for the third time this year. He was earlier named a first-team All-Region choice by both the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Daktronics, Inc.


Rams' Pitcock recognized

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- Shepherd University junior pitcher/first baseman Nichole Pitcock was named to the 2010 Daktronics All-Atlantic Region Softball first team, the first Ram ever to earn region first-team honors.

Pitcock helped Shepherd set new single-season marks for wins (36) and conference wins (18). She led the team with a .348 batting average with a team-best 54 hits in 155 at-bats. She also paced the team in slugging percentage (.523), tied for the team lead in doubles (12) and RBIs (35), and was second in home runs (five) and runs scored (32).

Pitcock also went 15-7 with a 1.76 ERA as a pitcher. She fanned 129 in 131 innings.
