Esther Eutsler Lee, 91, formerly of Hagerstown, Md., died Monday, May 17, 2010, at Homewood at Williamsport, Williamsport, Md.

Born Oct. 16, 1918, in Cumberland, Md., she was the daughter of the late George Franklin and Lou Virginia (Mytinger) Eutsler Sr. She was the wife of the late Robert Clay Lee, who died in 1972.

Esther graduated in 1936 from Handley High School, Winchester, Va. In her earlier years, she was the Tri-State Representative for Greeters Inc. She was a past secretary for the Civil Defense, the emergency room at the Washington County Hospital, the Washington County Health Department, Maryland Correctional Training Center and Bohman Realty Co..

Esther was a current member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, Hagerstown, where she participated in the Wilson Wright Circle for many years. She was a past member of the Lioness Club of Halfway.


Esther is survived by a son, Paul F. Lee of High Point, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Katherine Guiney Lee of Hagerstown; two granddaughters, Virginia Lee Schmid of Atlanta, Ga., and Margaret A. Lee of Hagerstown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Esther was preceded in death by one son, David C. Lee; three sisters, Margaret Sirbaugh, Louise Belchic and Virginia Dunn; and a half brother, George F. Eutsler Jr.

The memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 20, 2010, at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 129 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Patrick Ricker will officiate. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town, W.Va.

The visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Homewood at Williamsport Benevolent Fund, 16505 Virginia Ave., Williamsport, MD 21795 or to Holly Place, 268 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
