CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Mr. Rudy Reynold Milligan, 74, a resident of Manorcare Health Services, Chambersburg, Pa., and formerly of 91 S. Price Ave., Waynesboro, Pa., died at 5:45 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2010, at the nursing home. He had been in failing health for the past several years.

Born May 30, 1935, in Brunswick County, N.C., he was the son of the late Charles R. and Ida Mae (Inman) Milligan. He spent his early life in North and South Carolina.

He received his G.E.D. in New York; however, he attended Waccamaw High School in Ash, N.C.

Mr. Milligan served with the United States Army from 1954 to 1957, during the Korean Conflict.

He and his wife of over 52 years, Charlotte A. (McClain) Milligan, were married on June 15, 1957, in Sabillasville, Md. They moved to Price Avenue in 1994 and later moved to Providence Place.


Mr. Milligan was a manufacturing general manager for Moore Business Forms, first in Thurmont, Md., then in Elmira, N.Y., and later Lewisburg, Pa. He retired in 1994 after more than 37 years of service.

He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Sabillasville, where he was a member of the consistory. He was also a member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge 378 in Hagerstown and Disabled American Veterans.

Mr. Milligan enjoyed playing golf, NASCAR racing and playing Canasta (cards).

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Sharon Y. Logan of Parker, Colo., Ramona D. Gerbig of Orlando, Fla., and Reynold N. Milligan of Cascade, Md.; two grandsons, Travis Gerbig and Jared Gerbig, both of Orlando; three sisters, Maxine Koontz of York, Pa., Mary Frances "Peggy" Demio of Newville, N.J., and Shirley Trimarchi of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Irene W. Fansler, Clara M. Robinson and Vernice Gore.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2010, at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Janet Comings officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Church Cemetery, Cascade.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening in the funeral home.
