Two $4,000 scholarships available to dairy youths

Two $4,000 scholarships are offered to Maryland dairy youths who are enrolled in or have been enrolled in a 4-H/FFA dairy project (all dairy breeds) and are pursuing a four-year degree in any agricultural program at the college of their choice.

The Maryland Dairy Scholarships are available to entering college freshmen through entering college seniors. The scholarships can be won twice. However, applicants must apply each year.

Applications can be obtained by looking on the University of Maryland dairy website or by contacting Arthur and Peggy Johnson at 301-972-8274.

A recent wallet size photo and an official transcript must accompany the application. Applications must be typed in space allotted using a 12-point font, and postmarked no later than July 1 for consideration.

Made possible through the donation of a Friend of Maryland Dairy Youth and 4-H, the scholarships have been awarded since 1998 and presented at the Maryland State Fair during the Dairy Awards Program.

Gene Iager ag scholarship available

The Gene Iager Agricultural Scholarship is once again being offered to Maryland dairy youths who are members of a junior breed organization (all breeds) have had a 4-H dairy project and are enrolled in a four-year program at a college of agriculture.

The $5,000 scholarship was established in 2007 and will be awarded at the Maryland State Fair during the 4-H Supreme Dairy Show. The scholarship may be won by an individual one time.

Applications can be found on the University of Maryland website, or can be obtained by contacting Arthur and Peggy Johnson at 301-972-8274. Applications must be typed in a 12-point font in the space allotted and postmarked by July 1. A recent wallet size photo and an official college transcript must accompany the application.
