Salem Avenue Elementary School's fourth Annual Exhibition of Student Learning drew a large crowd of families, citizens and local officials May 13.

Celebrating Minds at Work involved each student, prekindergarten through fifth grade, presenting projects on various themes, such as problem solving, recycling, literature, community service and service learning and the Constitution.

Approximately 1,400 visitors viewed displays and listened to presentations in classrooms throughout the school.

In addition, students raised nearly $1,000 in a number of ways for various charities.

For example, first-grade students made treasures from trash, sold them during the exhibition and will donate the proceeds to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
