FALLING WATERS, W.Va. - Linda Leigh Novack, 57, of Falling Waters, W.Va., died Friday, May 14, 2010, at her home.

Born April 18, 1953, in Portsmouth, Va., she was the daughter of the late Melbourne LeRoy Smith and H. Anne (Garrett) Smith of Falling Waters.

She was the wife of John H. Novack of Falling Waters, whom she married Oct. 22, 1994.

Linda was a 1971 graduate of Orange Park Senior High School in Orange Park, Fla., and later graduated from the University of Florida.

She retired in January 2010 from the Hagerstown Surgical Clinic in Hagerstown, where she was a medical administrator with 11 years of service.

Linda enjoyed crafts and painting, and was a member of the Apple Valley Painters. She also enjoyed Yorkie Dog Rescue and had fostered and adopted several dogs over the years.


Linda is survived by two sons, C. Carson Brownell of Sanford, Fla., and Cooper C. Brownell of Boca Raton, Fla.; one sister, Julie S. Helms of Fayetteville, N.C.; and two brothers, Roy M. Smith Jr. of Round Rock, Texas, and Paul G. Smith of Waynesville, N.C.

In addition to her father, Linda was preceded in death by one son, Garrett L. Brownell; and one brother, Steven A. Smith.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 18, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.

The funeral will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Save A Yorkie Rescue, 2650 Shillington Road, Sinking Springs, PA 19608.
