Sagittarius Salon & Spa

The following employees of Sagittarius Salon & Spa recently attended training classes.

o Sophia Spicer-Huluta, senior esthetician and spa director, recently attend PCA Skin's skin biology and chemical peel seminar, where she became a PCA Skin certified professional.

With the certification, Spicer-Huluta will be able to provide clients with the latest science and skills to overcome their skin challenges.

o Jessica Bender, R.M.P., recently attended a facilitated stretching course under the direction of Robert McAtee, author of three editions of "Facilitated Stretching."

The course will enable Bender to assist her clients in full body and targeted stretching.

Total Fitness Specialists

Erin Fleming of Total Fitness Specialists Inc. recently renewed her personal trainer and nutrition and wellness consultant certifications.

Fleming attended the American Fitness Professionals & Associates (AFPA) Fitness, Trainer, Sports & Mind Body Conference in Ocean City, Md., where she attended workshops and received continuing education credits in Functional Anatomy; Metabolic Training; Bodyweight Training; and Core Training on the Bosu and Stability Ball.


Roxbury Correctional Institution

Amy Hetzer, a mail room office clerk, was named Employee of the Month for May at Roxbury Correctional Institution.

Hetzer recently found a powdery substance concealed in three different envelopes addressed to an inmate. Her alertness and thorough inspection of the mail resulted in the confiscation of a significant amount of heroin.

Hetzer has been employed by the State of Maryland since 2007.

Capper Broadcasting

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Stacy Drake recently was hired as general manager of radio stations WDHC/WCST, which are owned by Capper Broadcasting.

Drake has been an on-air personality at various stations in the four-state area for more than 30 years.

Center for Joint Surgery and Sports Medicine

Laura Blair, a physical therapist at the Center for Joint Surgery and Sports Medicine, recently completed training and became certified as a Level I golf fitness professional by the Titleist Performance Institute.

Blair can evaluate golfers using 12 different screens to determine their level of flexibility and strength. She then can assign appropriate exercises to improve their game.

Blair has been a physical therapist for 18 years treating orthopedic injuries.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Paul Gunder and Kim Mills of the Waynesboro office of Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA recently were recognized for excellent performance in April.
