James "Bub" Thomas Washington, 68, of Newark N.J., passed away, Saturday, May 8, 2010, at his home.

Born Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1942, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late James E. Washington and the late Annie M. King Washington.

He graduated from North Hagerstown High School, class of 1961. He was a member of Wells Cathedral of Newark, N.J. He retired after 30 years of service at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. He loved to go to Atlantic City on bus trips with friends.

He leaves to mourn, two sisters, Anna V. Washington of Hagerstown, Md., and Sharon L. Washington of Hagerstown, Md.; one brother, Thomas P. Washington of Hagerstown, Md.; one niece, Kiana A. Washington of Winchester, Va.; a host of cousins; one uncle, Ralph C. King of Indianapolis; two special friends, Shelby Bristol and Magarita Shorter of Newark, N.J.; and Mrs. E. Irvin of Newark, N.J., whom he affectionately called "mother."

Services will be Tuesday, May 17, 2010, at 11 a.m., at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. G. Nathan Bell officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service Tuesday.
