GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Garvin J. Younker, 81, of 12162 Grant Shook Road, Greencastle, Pa., died at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2010, in Falling Spring Nursing Center, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born June 12, 1928, in Hancock, Md., he was a son of the late Mark Younker and Ethel Crouse Younker Kriner.

He worked at Frick Co. of Waynesboro, Pa., and retired in 1991 after 26 years of service. Mr. Younker enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid New York Yankees fan.

His wife, Dorothy J. Miller Younker, whom he married Nov. 16, 1945, died Sept. 15, 2001. He also was preceded in death by his stepfather, Alvin Kriner, and a stepsister, Helen McCulloh.

Surviving are two daughters, Nancy J. (Mrs. Gerald E.) Clever of Greeneville, Tenn., and Donna L. (Mrs. Timothy) Folden of Hedgesville, W.Va.; two sons, Thomas E. (husband of Sarah R.) Younker of Chambersburg and Steven M. (husband of Brenda K.) Younker of St. Thomas, Pa.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one step-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2010, in Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, with the Rev. Roger D. Cales officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg. Viewing one hour beffore services Sunday in the funeral home.
