Jay Donoghue doubled to score Vince Turano from first base in the bottom of the eighth inning to give St. Maria Goretti the win in the first round of the Maryland State Private School Tournament.

The Gaels rallied from an 8-3 deficit with five runs in the sixth inning, highlighted by a three-run homer by Nic Martin. Martin finished with three hits and four RBIs, while Ian Moss and winning pitcher Connor Grimsley each added two hits.

Chambersburg 7, Central Dauphin 2

COLONIAL PARK, Pa. -- Mitchell Warner threw a complete-game four-hitter with eight strikeouts to help Chambersburg close out the regular season with a win over Central Dauphin.

Kyle Patterson, Zane Bard and Chad Martin each had two hits and Tyler McDonald drove in three runs for the Trojans (13-6), who are idle until the District 3 playoffs begin on May 24.

Emma Cranston had two hits and an RBI for the Blue Storm (8-8), while Sarah Duda and Kate Vary had two RBIs apiece.
