BOONSBORO, Md. - Stephen A. Meyers, 55, of Boonsboro, formerly of Cumberland, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Dec. 17, 1954, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Clarence A. Meyers. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Richard Phillips.

He is survived by his mother, Rose Marie (Schoenadel) Phillips.

Mr. Meyers was a safety coordinator for CSX Railroad and secretary for the Carmen's Union. Stephen was an avid golfer and a Methodist by faith. He was a 1972 graduate of Fort Hill High School.

In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife, Jean F. (Kirchner) Meyers; two sons, Nicholas A. Meyers and wife, Sarah, Monterey, Calif., and Shad C. Meyers and fiancee, Lindsay A. Swearman; stepdaughter, Katherine Martz and husband, Matthew, San Antonio; stepson, Jonathan Bishop, Hagerstown; stepbrothers, Tobin Phillips and wife, Laura, and Erik Phillips and wife, Kathy, all of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Maren B. Meyers and Benjamin A. Meyers; and stepgrandson, Logan Martz.


Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. George Harpold officiating.

Entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
