Kelsi Maddock, a fifth-grader at Fountaindale Elementary School in Hagerstown, attended the Maryland PTA Reflections Awards ceremony May 1.
Kelsi received an award of merit in the intermediate group for her poem titled "The Magic of Writing."
The Maryland PTA participates in the National PTA Reflections Program, a yearly competition that provides a topic for students to enter a submission with their interpretation of the topic via visuals arts, photography, film production, literature, music composition or dance choreography.
