Local man does well

Several years ago - I'm guessing it was about 10 or so - I told you about a young man from our community and I was pleased to report that this "small town boy makes good."

Well, much to my pleasure, recently his mother called to bring me up to date and I am pleased to share with you the wonderful things he has been doing.

Richard Timothy Barber of Funkstown, son of Anna and William Barber, is a major in the U.S. Air Force and is stationed in England.

He recently served in Afghanistan and is working with NATO in London.

He is a graduate of South Hagerstown High School and the University of Maryland.

He enjoys spending time with his daughter, Hannah Marie.

His parents are proud of his accomplishments, and those of us in his hometown are also proud of his service to our country.
