Alumni to meet

The South Hagerstown High School's Alumni Association will meet Thursday at 7 p.m. in the school's media center. All alumni are welcome.

Books for CASA

South Hagerstown High School students and staff collected about 500 books and donated them to CASA of Washington County during National Library Week.

The books collected ranged from children's books to adult books. Organizers are hoping to make it an annual event.

Yard sale

Hagerstown First Church of God will hold its annual yard sale Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will include a chicken barbecue, starting at 11 a.m.

The church is at 1015 Rose Hill Ave. in Hagerstown.

Locust Point

The Locust Point Neighborhoods 1st group is raising funds for its block party in June.

The group will hold at least two yard sales in an effort to raise funds.

The group is accepting donations of items for the sales.


The group is also accepting donations of money. Checks can be made out to the City of Hagerstown.

The South Hagerstown High School Rebels Band Boosters will hold a yard sale and car wash Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the school parking lot.

Discovery Station

Saturday - "Art Walk," with artist Suzanne Bell, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Big Read scavenger hunt, 2 p.m.

Arts Share Fair

Leadership Washington County Class of XXIII and Washington County Museum of Fine Arts will hold an Arts Share Fair on Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the museum's Bowman Gallery.

Weather-permitting, artisans will be in the museum's Kaylor Garden and on the museum's entry plaza. The event is free and open to the public. Student groups and other tours are encouraged to attend.

Members of the Valley Artists Association, the Weaver's Guild, artists and craftspeople working in fine arts, as well as pottery, metal, jewelry, stone, glass-blowing and soap-making will be on hand.

They will present information about their techniques and items will be available for sale to benefit the artists, the museum and Leadership Washington County.

Class of 1970

The South Hagerstown High School class of 1970 is planning its 40th reunion, scheduled Sept. 11 at the Elks Lodge. The group is looking for classmates.

Museum art classes

The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown will offer a variety of art classes during the summer months for those 13 and older. Registration is required for all classes.

Soup and sandwich sale

Grace United Methodist Church will hold a soup and sandwich sale Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. The church is on the corner of Church and Winter streets in Hagerstown.

Country ham and city ham and cheese sandwiches will sell for $3 apiece. Vegetable soup will be available for $4 per quart.
