Police looking for Md. fugitive who jumped out window

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Chambersburg police were looking for a Maryland fugitive who jumped out of a second-story window in the 300 block of South Second Street on Saturday.

Authorities in Washington County have active warrants for 22-year-old Gary S. Wingate Jr., according to Chambersburg Sgt. Richard Swartz.

Swartz said the paperwork he had didn't say what the charges were.

"He's considered dangerous," he said.

The police special-response team searched a third-floor apartment at 26 S. Second St. and did not find Wingate, Swartz said. They then tried to find him in the 300 block, he said.

Wingate is described as a black male with long dreadlocks in his hair. He's 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds.
