Jackets button up Suns' offense

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Hagerstown Suns allowed the Augusta GreenJackets to play through.

The GreenJackets carded a pair of four-run innings to pull away from the Suns on Saturday for an 11-1 victory. Augusta scored four times in the fourth inning to expand a 3-1 lead and put the game away with a four-run eighth.

The GreenJackets (17-13) scored twice in the second and used Thomas Joseph's homer in the third off Suns starter Jack McGeary (2-1) for the 3-1 lead.

Hector Sanchez led off the fourth with a homer to start the beginning of the end of the outing for McGeary. Patrick Arnold came on after McGeary walked Sharlon Schoop and Dan Cook singled.


Nick Liles greeted Arnold with an RBI single and Christopher Dominguez added a two-run double to give Augusta a 7-1 lead.

Augusta finished the rout with four runs off Dean Weaver in the eighth, highlighted by Liles' two-run single and Evan Crawford's RBI triple.

The Suns (16-13) took a 1-0 lead in the second when Justin Bloxom drew a leadoff walk off Augusta starter Devan Kline and scored on J.P. Ramirez's double.

McGeary allowed six runs on five hits and three walks.

The Suns managed three hits, only one after the second inning. Bloxom doubled in the sixth.
