Kids Alive Fest set for May 15 at Children's Village

Children's Village of Washington County Inc. will host its 19th annual Kids Alive Fest, Open House/Community-Safety Day on Saturday, May 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Children's Village campus, 1546 Mount Aetna Road in Hagerstown. Admission is free. The event will be held rain or shine.

A boy will be inducted into the Children's Village Life Safety Hall of Fame at a ceremony beginning at 11:45 a.m. The boy is being honored for using information he learned at Children's Village to save his family from fire.

Scheduled activities: Ronald McDonald Safety Show, 11 a.m.; K-9 Demonstration, 1 p.m. (Maryland Correctional Institution); and Auto Extrication Demo, 2 p.m. (Maugansville Fire Co.).

Additional activities: Car Seat Safety Check (Community Rescue Service/ Brethren Mutual Insurance parking lot); Child I.D. using MdCHIP program (Gaye McGovern Insurance Agency, State Farm Insurance/Hagerstown Masonic Lodge).

Weather permitting activities include mini-car rides, radar gun contest and fire hose spraying challenge. There will be continuous tours of the Power of Fire House and families will have the opportunity to complete safety stations throughout the day.

Event sponsors are Susquehanna Bank and The Columbia Bank.

Children's Village is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free life-safety education to elementary school children in Washington County.
