Brechbill & Helman Construction Co. of Chambersburg, Pa., recently received the Green Building Association of Central Pennsylvania's 2010 Green Building Award for water efficiency at the association's annual awards dinner at the Wildwood Conference Center at Harrisburg (Pa.) Area Community College.
The award was for the implementation of waterless and low-flow fixtures, installation of a water reuse tank for the manufacturing process and 100 percent reduction of potable water for landscaping maintenance at Vacon Inc. The new facility for Vacon's North American headquarters opened in November 2009.
Receiving the award on behalf of Brechbill and Helman were Angus Steinson, LEED AP, and Taylor Davis, LEED GA assistant director of marketing. Also attending the ceremony were L. Michael Ross, president of the Franklin County (Pa.) Area Development Corp.; David Sciamanna, president of the Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce; Mike Hennessey of Vacon; and Bruce Garner and Kim Fuhrman of SGS Architects Engineers.
