The Suns scored two runs when Eury Perez bunted and reached on a throwing error by Augusta starting pitcher Christopher Heston. The errant throw allowed Marcus Jones and Sandy Leon, who both singled, to score.

Perez moved to third on a groundout before Nicol provided what proved the to be the winning run.

The rally made a winner of Suns starter Trevor Holder (1-1), who pitched six innings and allowed three runs on five hits while striking out seven. Mitchell Clegg pitched an inning before Wanel Vasquez went the final two to record the save.
