Charles Joseph Flook Jr., 88, of 14014 Marsh Pike, Hagerstown, Md., passed away, Thursday, May 6, 2010, at NMS of Hagerstown.

Born Tuesday, Jan. 17, 1922, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of the late Charles J. Flook Sr. and the late Clara B. Johnson Flook.

Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the European theater during World War II. He was a member of the Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 and Otterbein United Methodist Church.


Charles was a firetruck driver for the City of Hagerstown, working out of the South End Fire Department, retiring after 30 years of service.

He is survived by his nephew, Gregory R. Flook and wife Rosalie, who he considered as a daughter that he never had, of Waynesboro, Pa.; two great-nieces, Kelli Boyer and Katie McAfee both of Hagerstown, Md.; great-nephew, Jason Flook and wife Dani of Mont Alto, Pa.; three great-great-nephews, Brody McAfee, Clayton Boyer and Parker Flook.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard J. Flook.

Graveside services will be Monday, May 10, 2010, at 10 a.m., at the Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, Md., with the Rev. Dr. Stephen D. Robison officiating.

There will be no viewing or visitation.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, Md.
