PETERSTOWN, W.Va. - Charles L. "Chuck" Walters, 60, of Peterstown, W.Va., passed away Monday, May 3, 2010, at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, W.Va.

Born March 27, 1950, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of Julia Ruth Fischer Walters of Williamsport, Md.

Chuck was retired from the Mercer County Board of Education, where he taught at Knob and Mercer elementary schools for 31 years.

He also was a former member of the Peterstown Ruritan Club and the Peterstown Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad. Chuck loved to play golf and was a member of the Peterstown Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Barbara Law Walters; one son, Jason Walters of Peterstown; three daughters, Missy Boggess and husband, Tony, and Amy Amos and husband, Dennis, both of Peterstown, and Tracy Walters and husband, Emerson Fifield-Hall, of Davidson, N.C.; five grandchildren, Eli and Paige Amos, Hudson Boggess, Brin and Valerie Fifield-Hall; and mother-in-law, Ervil Law of Peterstown.


Graveside services will be Friday, May 7, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Memorial Gardens, Lindside, W.Va., with the Rev. Jonathan Jennings officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside services are asked to meet at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home no later than 10:15 a.m.

Friends may call Thursday, May 6, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, Peterstown.
