Blazers win third straight MVAL Antietam title

CLEAR SPRING -- Corey Morgan hit a two-run homer in Clear Spring's five-run third inning, and the Blazers defeated Boonsboro 7-3 Wednesday to win the MVAL Antietam title for the third consecutive season.

Brandon Glazer, Joel Rowe and Cody Englehart had two hits each for Clear Spring (15-2, 11-2).

Boonsboro falls to 3-16, 2-12.

Timmy Hoover had two hits, including a walkoff single to score Jordan Nicewarner, to give South Hagerstown the MVAL Antietam win over Brunswick (9-11, 6-8) in 10 innings.

Trevor Haupt and Ben Stone added two hits apiece for the Rebels (12-7, 9-5).

Waynesboro 14, West Perry 13

WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- Brett Rosenberry added to his area-leading home run total with two more on Wednesday, including a walkoff two-run shot to cap a five-run seventh inning and lead Waynesboro past West Perry.

Aaron Beck drove in the first run of the seventh with an RBI single and Greg Wade later hit a two-run single before Rosenberry's ninth homer of the season gave the Indians (11-5) the victory.

Jamie Richard and Brett Heller had two hits each and Zach Lambert hit an RBI single for Jefferson (20-9), which notched its 34th straight 20-win season by defeating St. Maria Goretti.

Dan Rost had two hits, while Vince Turano drove in the Gaels' (8-16) only run and pitched a complete-game six-hitter.

MECHANICSBURG, Pa. -- Kyle Patterson hit a two-run homer to back winning pitcher Tyler McDonald's complete-game four-hit performance for Chambersburg (10-5, 6-3) in a Mid-Penn Commonwealth victory.

Greencastle 13, Boiling Springs 0

CARLISLE, Pa. -- Devin Schaeffer went 2 for 3 with three RBIs, including a key two-run single in a four-run second inning, to lead Greencastle to a five-inning Mid Penn Capital victory over Boiling Springs.

The Blue Devils (13-2, 11-0) added eight runs in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach. Dylan Schaeffer highlighted the inning with a two-run double as Greencastle used five hits and four walks in the rally.

Dylan Schaeffer moved to 6-0 after allowing two hits while striking out four in four innings. Josh Short went 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

FREDERICK, Md. -- Matt Lawrence hit an RBI single to right to drive in the winning run and lead Thomas Johnson to a win over Hedgesville.

Hedgesville (14-13) battled back from a 4-0 deficit after two innings to take a 5-4 lead after six innings. The Eagles faced six Patriots pitchers in the game, none pitching more than two innings.

Brad Crowell led Hedgesville with two hits.

North Hagerstown 7, Catoctin 3

THURMONT, Md. -- Allysen Breeden had three hits and three RBIs for North Hagerstown, which gave Catoctin (15-2, 12-1) its first MVAL Antietam loss in the Hubs' first game since having 10 victories forfeited for using an ineligible player.

Ragan Shaw had two hits for North (1-16, 1-12), while Rachel Thomas pitched a complete game to earn the victory.

Smithsburg 6, Williamsport 5

WILLIAMSPORT -- Shayla Murray had two hits for Smithsburg and also scored the eventual winning run on an error in the top of the seventh inning to edge Williamsport in the MVAL Antietam.

Candy Horchner had three hits and an RBI for the Wildcats (10-7, 8-6), while Alexis Fisher had two hits.
