South High PTA in need of officers



South Hagerstown High School PTA president Bob Harr will host his last Parent/Teacher Association meeting Thursday, May 13, starting at 6 p.m. in the media center.

Officers are still need for the 2010-11 school year. Harr's last official day as head of the PTA will be Aug. 1.

Those interested in becoming a member or officer of this association are invited to attend the May 13 meeting.

Deafnet Association to have exhibits at mall



The local Deafnet Association will have exhibits at Valley Mall Friday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event is held to create awareness about Deafnet and the services available.

Formed in 1986, the Deafnet Association promotes the concerns that affect the deaf and hearing impaired.

The association is supported by local contributions from those interested in making the community accessible to the deaf or hard of hearing. Deafnet receives no federal or state funding, but is supported by individual and organization donations, fundraising events and interpretative fees.

These funds help maintain the quality and quantity of services.

More than 30 exhibitors will on hand and free classes will be held.

The following is a list of classes offered along with times:

Maryland Association for the Deaf - 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.; sign language - 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m;. Governor's Office of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing town hall meeting - 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.; sign language class - 3 to 3:45 p.m.

Area church to host pancake breakfast



The Church of the Holy Trinity UCC on Oak Ridge Drive will hold an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast Saturday, May 15, from 7 to 10:30 a.m.

The menu includes pancakes, sausage, eggs, gravy, coffee and juice.

Tickets cost $5.50 for adults and $3 for those ages 6 to 12. Those younger than 6 eat free.

Yard sale



Pepsi Co. will hold a yard sale Saturday, May 15, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine. The yard sale will be set up off Governor Lane Boulevard behind Rustoleum at 10417 Ferguson Lane in Williamsport.
