May 05, 2010

FLINTSTONE, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say the three people killed and one woman hurt in a traffic accident in western Maryland were all from Fayette City, Pa.

Police identified the deceased victims Tuesday as 46-year-old John Butcher, 46-year-old Dawn Brechenridge and 21-year-old Mark Veltre.

The lone survivor was 18-year-old Rachel Ankrom. Police say she was sitting on a guardrail along Interstate 68 when she was spotted by a state highway worker Tuesday morning.

Police say at least some of the victims weren't wearing seatbelts when the speeding 2008 Ford Mustang left the eastbound lanes and rolled hundreds of feet down a steep hillside near Rocky Gap State Park between Flintstone and Cumberland.
