Truck towing camper involved in I-81 crash in Pa.

GUILFORD TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A camper being pulled by a pickup truck jackknifed on northbound Interstate 81 on Sunday afternoon after the truck driver hit the brakes and swerved to avoid hitting a slowing car, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The 2005 Chevy Silverado slid out of control and hit the 2007 Subaru Legacy before overturning and stopping in the median, according to a state police news release.

The accident north of Kriner Road in Guilford Township happened shortly after 12:30 p.m. Sunday. The car had slowed for stopped traffic, police said.

A passenger in the Silverado, Donna Milliken, 56, of Mifflintown, Pa., was treated at Chambersburg Hospital and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.


The Silverado's driver, Vernon A. Troyer, 55, of Mifflintown, had a minor injury, but was not transported for medical care, state police said.

The Legacy's driver, Julie E. Ticehurst, 31; and passengers Seth Ticehurst, 33; Hudson Ticehurst; and Jackson Ticehurst; were not injured, police said. All four are from Brewster, N.Y.

Waynesboro man charged in knife threats

ANTRIM TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A Waynesboro, Pa., man was being held in Franklin County Prison on Tuesday morning on $50,000 bond after three Waynesboro residents were threatened with a knife, according to Pennsylvania State Police and a prison official.

Roger Ernest Heare was charged with terroristic threats, simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment, and public drunkenness, police said.

Police were called to the 15300 block of Ridge Road shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday for a disturbance, police said. A 37-year-old woman, a 59-year-old woman, and a 15-year-old boy were threatened with bodily harm while an open knife was held close to them, police said.

Pa. police seek info in fatal horse shooting

MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police were looking for information about a horse shooting that resulted in the death of the animal.

The incident happened on Garnes Road on April 1 between 7 and 10:10 a.m., police said.
