BOONSBORO -- Boonsboro Town Council member Richard Hawkins attended his last council meeting Tuesday night, after 25 years of service.

Mayor Charles F. "Skip" Kauffman Jr. extended a "deep gratitude" to Hawkins for his time on the council during Monday's meeting.

"It's been a good 25 years," said Hawkins, who is not seeking re-election May 11.

Hawkins, who is on the town's park board and is active in managing park facilities, told council members Monday night he would like to volunteer his time to make sure some park projects are carried out.

"I won't make any decisions," Hawkins said.

Council members agreed to the idea.
