Rohrersville Cornet Band to play May 16 in band hall

The Rohrersville Cornet Band of Washington County, organized in 1837, will present its spring concert Sunday, May 16, at 3 p.m. in the band hall on Main Street in Rohrersville.

The band hall is on land owned by the band's founder, G. Washington McCoy.

The concert in the band hall, built in 1916, will be "A Celebration of American Music."

Directors Holly Feather and Bob Sclater have programmed selections that feature traditional American songs or that were written by American composers.

The concert is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

The band's history, "And the Band Plays On," by Director Emeritus Richard Haynes will be available for purchase.
