Child ID program offered at MCTC

May 03, 2010

A child identification program will be held Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m. in the visiting reception area at the Maryland Correctional Training Center south of Hagerstown, according to the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.

The Maryland Child Identification Program, which will be offered free to the public, collects basic identification data, including a photograph, fingerprints and identifying characteristics for each child in a family, according to a news release.

Through the program, a permanent record is provided on paper and a CD, the release said.

The paper record is provided in two forms -- one that can be filed away and another that can be carried in a wallet or purse, the release said. The CD also contains a video interview with each child, which is helpful to law enforcement when they are searching for a child, the release said.
